Challenge
After verifying the amazing results obtained at the research lab at the University of Tokyo ten years ago, Kyle Darling of Thera-Clean Microbubbles dedicated all his energy and resources to bringing microbubble deep cleaning for pets to North America. Partnering with professionals and veterinarians, the company understood that the microbubble technology was sound and that for many ailments, the therapeutic results from bathing pets in microbubbles far exceeded those achieved when pets are given drugs.
The first order of business, back in 2013, was to make some design improvements to the system and produce a practical, cost-effective housing, making it easy to use, compact, and attractive. The Thera-Clean Microbubbles unit is not only expensive, but also UL safely certified, which requires rigorous testing for fire and electrical shocks. Kyle knew that mediocre work on this product was not going to cut it.

Wesgar Solution
Kyle’s brother-in-law recommended Wesgar as a resourceful innovator that could help with the design and product manufacturing. After researching options and consulting with experts, Kyle believed Wesgar could provide exactly what the company needed—manufacturing, powder coating, and silk screening all in one shop. The first meeting went well; Kyle presented his vision for the microbubble product, and once pricing was agreed upon, he was happy to hand the challenge over to Wesgar.
Thera-Clean provided Wesgar with a 3D-printed model in plastic. The goal was to have screen-printed aluminum side panels. Instead of using a welded part to fix the panels to the machine using screws, Wesgar’s engineering team proposed a rolled forming solution without welding. The panels open up easily, allowing access to the insides if needed, and are more cost-effective than the original concept. When Kyle received the first prototype, he knew Wesgar had hit a home run on its first try, and he was thrilled—although he worked hard to keep a poker face.
The first decade in business was challenging, but Wesgar has been willing to accommodate low volumes. Whenever Thera-Clean provided CAD drawings, Wesgar came back with options for improvement, both in functionality and cost-effectiveness—that’s a service that Kyle really appreciates. The original system was 90 lbs. and 250 parts; the latest is down to just 53 lbs. and 47 parts and is much more user-friendly.
Ten years later, Thera-Clean Microbubbles leads the way in North America. True to expectations, the therapy is proving more effective than drugs, with over 300 clients spread across Canada, the UK, Ecuador, Norway, and the US. Most clients run veterinary clinics, particularly those specializing in dermatology or grooming parlors, and more recently, Thera-Clean has sold units to private owners. Its in-house financing makes it highly affordable. Thera-Clean keeps pets healthy, even those without skin issues.
